About Us

The First Tee of Monmouth and Ocean Counties was formed in 2005 as Jersey Shore Junior Golf. Since that time it has served hundreds of youngsters in the two counties. It became a Chapter of The First Tee in March 2008. It has two main learning facilities, one in each county. The First Tee learning facility at Colonial Terrace Golf Course includes 8 hitting stalls, a target green, a practice putting and chipping green and driving cages. The organization’s office is located in the golf course’s clubhouse. The course was built in the 1920’s and has been beautifully restored by the Township and re-opened in May 2008. Nearly every golfer in the area reports that Colonial Terrace Golf Course is where they first learned the game. Our Ocean County facility is The JR Smith Learning Center, located at Ocean County Park in Lakewood. It is a 3 hole, junior size course, that was completed in July 2014.

The First Tee of Monmouth and Ocean Counties serves all children, ages 7-17, who live in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Part of its mission is to reach out to youngsters who would not otherwise have the opportunity to learn the game of golf and its core values. There is a nominal fee for its programs that can be waived if it presents a barrier to participation. For more details about our facility and programs, please contact our offices at (732) 759-2170 or e-mail us at info@thefirstteemonoc.org.
